The II Plan for the Integration of Immigrants (PII), was approved by the Council of Ministers Resolution no. 74/2010, dated 17 September 2010, it is a follow up of the social policies regarding the integration of immigrants that were already part of the first Plan (2007-2009).
This Plan aimed at the accomplishment of 90 measures allocated to 17 different areas of intervention and they were managed and monitored by a network of Focal Points conducted by ACIDI (High Commission for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue)
The Ministry for Education and Science, through the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES), is part of the Network of Focal Points, and participates as a coordinator or partner in several measures for the Higher Education Sector, namely:
- produce an e-flyer on the regimes for equivalence and recognition (Decree-Law no. 283/83, of 21 June) and degree register (Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of 12 October), available for download on DGES website on a pdf file
- creation of a online databa on requests for equivalence and recognition under Decree-Law no. 283/83, of 21 June, as well as requests for degree register under Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of 12 October, with the aim to have more transparent and reliable procedures
- performance of 10 training sessions on recognition of foreign qualification, promoted and organized by DGES, in National and Local Centers of Support to Immigrants (CNAI) and (CLAII)
