Erasmus+ is the EU programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport. It came into force on the 1st of January 2014 and brings together in a single framework support for those areas, also including other international programmes such as Jean Monnet and Erasmus Mundus.

Erasmus+ supports activities in education, training, youth and sport in all sectors of lifelong learning, including higher education, vocational training, education for adults, school education, activities in the youth field and training in amateur sports.

Portugal has two national agencies for the national implementation of Erasmus+, the National Agency for Education and Training (oriented towards academic mobility) and the National Agency for Youth and Sport.
