In order to overcome obstacles from the movement of graduates and remove bureaucratic procedures, Decree-Law n.º 341/2007, 12th October established an innovative regime for the recognition of foreign degrees with identical levels, objectives and nature as the degrees of licenciado, mestre and doutor awarded by Portuguese higher education institutions.
Last August an update of the academic degrees covered by the legal diploma in question was published in the Official Journal, concerning the following countries Canada, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and Ukraine.
