Directive 2013/55/EU of 20 November 2013 introduces several amendments to Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications covering 28 Member States and the three EEA countries. The Directive 2005/36/EC was reviewed five years after entering into force in 2007 and the Commission set in train a public consultation and evaluation process with the view to modernize and bring it into closer alignment with Directive 2006/123/EC on Services in the Internal Market. It is worth enhancing, amongst other objectives, the introduction of the European Professional Card, the Common Training Frameworks (CTFs) which among other instruments will create more transparency for professionals by making information easily available.
